Three volumes of the royal edition, Volumes I and II of "Past Sportsmen" and the royal edition of "Hunting", both volume I of "Past Sportsment" and the volume of "Hunting" state they are royal edition and are both numbered #182 of 250. Past Sportsmen part I has some rubbing at the bottom of the front cover, and some light wear at the bottom of the spine, there are 2 bumps at the top edge on the back cover. Past Sportsmen part II has some rubbing to a small area on the bottom of the front cover, less than part I, some wear to the corners on the back cover. Hunting has two spots on the front cover that are damaged, some wear along the back edge of the spine, light wear along the end of the board on the rear cover. 3 extremely nice volumes with no previous owner marks, the Royal edition was limited to 250 copies, all 3 copies are bound in beautiful blue leather. |

The previous owner participated in this Science Fiction & Fantasy conference and had her program signed by 8 of the illustrious participants: author Brian W. Aldiss, movie special effects legend Ray Harryhausen (remember the Sushi restaurant in Monsters Inc. ? named after Ray), Hap Henriksen-fantasy art and collectibles artist; author Colin Manlove, original fish artwork with the short inscription by famous artist james C. Christensen; James Gunn Science Fiction author and historian; Frederik Pohl Science Fiction author and editor; and Gregory Benford-physicist, astronomer and Science Fiction writer. 48 pages. Some tanning to both covers and one 1" tear along top edge of rear cover (repaired with japanese tissue). Program contains bios on most of the signers who were speakers and participants. Also lists other association leaders and participants as well as the schedule for the 5 day conference. The cover also has a 4" x 4" b/w illustration by James Christensen. Inquiries welcomed. |

H x 15 1/4in. W. 72 page California Perfume Company (predecessor to Avon Products) dealer sales catalog, with 37 folio size color lithographs of cosmetic product line. Color Plate Catalogue of Perfumes, Toilet Waters, Sachet Powders, Complexion Creams, Talcum Powders, Toilet Preparations, Soaps and Soap Preparations, Shaving Supplies, Hair Tonics and Shampoos, Manicure Supplies, Dentifrices, Flavoring Extracts, Colorings and Food Products, Household Specialties, Atomizer Boxes, Gift Packages and Sets. 1921 letter "To Whom it May Concern" pasted inside the front cover from the Vice-President of The First National Bank of Kansas City, Mo. explaining to prospective customers the strength of the Perfume Company and that they had been in business since 1886. This book has been rebound: the pages have been washed in a mild bleach solution to kill mildew and some moderate insect damage has been repaired with Japanese tissue on 6 pages. All of the illustrations are complete and not affected by these repairs. The binding has been resewn by hand and new PH neutral endpapers included. When purchased there was also an additional page laid in that was not part of the original catalog for American Ideal and Daphne Toilet Water, American Beauty Fragrance Jar, Benzoin Lotion, Cold Cream, Violet Almond Meal and White Lilac Talcum Powder-this page has been sewn in at the rear just behind the Panama-Pacific International Exposition engraving. The salesperson hand marked in pencil discounted prices on the description pages in between the lithographed pages. The lithographs orginally had index tabs which disintegrated and these have been replaced. Cover is in very good + condition, but the cover gilding is faded. |

Inscribed By Both Artists The book is in Very Good+ condition, there are a few light marks on the cover, one puncture in the leather at the bottom of the spine on the front, the inside front cover has light foxing, some insect stains along the edges of the pages. This is a Limited edition, number 144 of no more than 190, signed by "David Hagerbaumer" the artist, and also signed by "Sam Lehman" the designer of the calligraphy, it is stated on the inside front cover that neither the art or the calligraphy will ever be reproduced in anything but this book, both artists did one hand illustration each on the page that they signed. |

This is an extremely scarce (rare? ) hardbound copy of what I assume are copies of the articles from the 1890 issues of this short-lived British Woman's magazine. Oscar Wilde was the previous editor through Fall, 1889, and the articles and high-profile contributors attributed to him are generally not found here, other than one poem by Nesbit. Other contributors include Mrs. E. Roscoe Mullins, Amy Levy, Mme. Lebour-Fawssett, Miss M.F. Billington, Lady Magnus, Andrew, T. Sibbald, Miss Clementina Black, Miss J. E Davis, Mrs. Alexander Ireland, Miss Mary Geoghegan, Katharine Tynan, Sarah Tytler, Annie Glen, Mrs. deBlaquiere, and many others too numerous to list. Subjects include fashion, sewing, the arts & music, decorating, fine cooking & dining, biographical sketches of mainly upper class women, literature, short stories & poetry, womens legal issues, and such interesting vignettes as "the grievances of barmaids", "the hardships of nurses", "the disintegration of mormonism", "women in the civil service", and "a mother's plea for the kindergarten". Many b/w engravings throughout. 664 pages. Binding has been partially repaired-two of 3 cords are intact, I would call this binding fragile; interior is clean with only very light foxing at the ends for a few pages. Front endpaper repaired with tissue. Leather title title square on spine was re-glued. Leather and marbled covers rubbed and bumped. Very interesting piece for any researcher of the women's movement of this period. Large book weighs 5.7 pounds. |

The published results of a two day conference held in Houston, Texas at the Manned Spacecraft Center, summarizing the results of the Gemini Space Flight Program in 21 papers presented by participating astronauts and scientists in the program. The technical papers are divided into five sections: the first describes the rendezvous, docking, and tethered-vehicle operations involving the spacecraft and a target vehicle; the second presents various aspects of extravehicular activity; the third concerns the operational support of the missions; the fourth covers the experiments conducted during the missions; and the fifth compares the Gemini results to the Apollo program. 345 pages. Very good-copy that has a clean interior and tight binding. Very minor insect damage to spine and front cover edge and minor tears to cover. One larger tear has been repaired with tissue. Many illustrations and charts throughout. Previous owner's label on lower front corner of cover-from the estate of a former NASA scientist. |

This is a oversized pamphlet from 1920 that documents the trip from Brooklyn New York to the Grand Canyon, for the Official Dedication as a National Park, taken by many officials and prominent people, (listed in the rear of the booklet on two pages). These participants visited 43 cities by either automobile or train. They traveled 12 days, passed through 21 states, visited 6 national parks, with no rainy days, all in 30 days. One highlight was the visit in Marfa, Texas where a rodeo was held at the ranch of prominent cattleman Burt (W.B. ) Mitchell. He is the first cattleman whose portrait was placed in the Texas A&M Ag College. This book is in Very Good condition. 32 pages, with many b/w photos throughout. |

One writing is dated 1795, another 1804, another quotes letters of 1803 and 1804 and the final dated writing is 1814. Full titles are: Biographia Philosophica or a succinct account of the Lives of the eminent Philosphers and Mathematicians from the highest Antiquity to the present time: Thales, Plato, Aristotle and 23 others, the prominent ones having longer biosgraphies, the less well known perhaps a paragraph. 76 pages. Undated. The first page is missing the top and bottom inner 1/2" edge out for approx. 2". II The Triumph of Religious Liberty over the Spirit of Persecution-an account of the trials of several persons for an outrageous and unprovoked Persecution at great Bardfield in the County of Essex, before the Honorable Mr. Justice Lawrence at Chelmsford Assizes, in the month of May, 1794. H x 14in. W. A very nice but incomplete copy of this massive work. 288 pages, 13 of 20 original photogravures, 20 of 25 original photo-engravings, 50 sketches in the text. Some of the plates show normal soiling along the extra wide borders from being handled by people, the centered images are still very good. Cloth is stained and worn in spots. Hinges are cracked, interior pages have no major problems-no dampstains, etc and show very nicely. Since this book cannot reasonably be restored it is an excellent candidate for plate removal. Gerome's subjects center around Christian, secular middle eastern and Roman, and some French themes. Book weighs just over 12 pounds. |
